Children’s Gallery

The objects displayed in the Children’s Gallery reflect the wide-ranging interests of Salar Jung III, whose collection encompassed objects of diverse origins and themes. The gallery also displays objects collected by Salar Jung III during his childhood. The exhibits provide an engaging and educational experience for children visiting the gallery.

It houses an extensive collection of bronze figures, porcelain objects, musical boxes, marble sculptures, and toys from different parts of the world. Highlights include geisha dolls from Japan, a working model train set from England, and a set of the Seven Dwarfs from famed fable Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The gallery appeals to visitors of all ages. One of its highlights is a large collection of toy soldiers arranged to illustrate the organisation and equipment used during the Second World War. In addition to artillery and infantry units, the display includes models representing the air force, tanks, and medical personnel.

The gallery also displays exquisitely modelled wild animals in bronze and other metals, including elephants, rhinoceroses, and tigers. The collection further includes clay models of domesticated animals, soapstone carvings from Korea and Japan, objects inlaid with mother-of-pearl, and metal and porcelain sculptures depicting various breeds of dogs.
