How to reach Salar Jung Museum
The Museum is easily accessible by road, rail and the metro. The major railway stations, Kachiguda and Nampally, are within three miles of the Salar Jung Museum which is located near the Old City of Hyderabad. The nearest metro sttaion is MGBS (Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station). Public transport buses run frequently from all parts of the city to Afzalgunj, which is within walking distance of the Museum.

At the Museum...
There are 39 galleries in the Museum spread across three buildings: the Central Block, the Eastern Block (Mir Laiq Ali Khan Bhavan), and the Western Block (Mir Turab Ali Khan Bhavan) across two floors. The Central Block contains 26 galleries (13 on the ground floor, and 13 on the first floor), the Western Block has 7 galleries, and the Eastern Block has 6 galleries. The Central Block is connected with the Eastern and Western blocks through ramp bridges located on the first floor. Lifts are available in all the blocks connecting all the floors for senior citizens and for people with limited mobility conditions.
The museum comprises several departments, including the Education Department, the Chemical Conservation Laboratory, the Library, the Photo Section, the Display Section, Reception, and a Souvenir Shop. The Museum’s security is managed by the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF).
Facilities to Visitors
Visitors can book tickets on-site and online; a cloak room and luggage counter is provided for large bags which are not permitted in the museum; necessary access and parking facilities are available on campus; clear signages allow visitors to navigate their way across the Museum and its numerous floors; seating has been provided for visitor comfort throughout the Museum; restrooms and wheelchairs are also available for visitors with limited mobility conditions. A cafeteria, operated by the Telangana Tourism Department, is also on-site; Two Souvenir shops are present on the ground floor for visitors to purchase memorabilia and the Museum’s publications.

Publications
The Museum publishes a range of books, brochures, pamphlets and guidebooks for visitors. Activity Sheets, and online educational resources are also available for school children.
The Museum’s publications, replicas, souvenirs, utility items and stationery featuring Museum artefacts and motifs, and a range of craft products from the region of Telangana are available in the two shops situated on the Ground Floor of the Central Block.
Facilities to Scholars
The museum maintains a rich collection of books covering various subjects, along with thousands of manuscripts in Persian, Arabic, and Urdu. Scholars may access the library upon request by obtaining a pass from the reception counter.
