Details of Business Transacted by the Salar Jung Museum

To effectively engage a global audience

in the appreciation of decorative arts collection of Salar Jung III through its exhibitions, programmes, publications, and other related activities.

To educate the public about

the rich cultural heritage of India and other parts of the world, whilst creating a memorable experience.

To establish the Museum

as a centre of excellence for scholars and researchers through the Museum Library.

To raise awareness among

children about the importance of museums through various educational programmes and experiences.

To entertain children through

its Children's section which has become popular as a place of enjoyment for children.

VISTING HOURS

  • From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (open continuously).
  • The Museum is closed on Fridays and Gazetted holidays

ADMISSION TICKETS

  • ₹50 per adult (above 18 years) for Indian nationals.
  • ₹20 per child (above 5 years) for Indian nationals.
  • ₹1,000 per person for foreign visitors.
  • ₹50 per still camera or smartphone.

PHOTOGRAPHY OF ARTEFACTS

  • Photography of artefacts on display is permitted using cameras or smartphones upon the purchase of a seperate photography ticket.
  • Taking selfies is not permitted. The use of flash on cameras or mobile phones is prohibited.
About the Museum
Details of Customer /Clients
  • Both National and international visitors.
  • Research scholars for referring the Library Books, Manuscripts.
  • The Museum features a reception counter at the main entrance. A display board provides the layout plan of the galleries across all three buildings, namely the Central Block, the Eastern Block and the Western Block.
  • At the entrance of each floor, a detailed layout plan of the galleries located on that floor is displayed.
  • At the entrance of the Founders Gallery of the Museum “Museum Information System” with 55” monitor is placed for the benefit of the visitors.
  • For the guidance of the visitors a help sheet “Journey through Salar Jung Museum” depicting brief of the Museum is available for sale in the Sales Counter.
  • Signboards showing the details of Gallery No. with photograph of the gallery view are available in each corridor.
  • Informative and attractive Multi colour tickets have been introduced with a brief and sketch plan of the Museum.
  • Descriptive labels on important objects displayed in the galleries with relevant photographs.
  • An auditorium with a 200-seat capacity and a lecture hall with a 100-seat capacity are available for the Museum's own programmes. These spaces are also hired out for events and programmes to third parties subject to the Museum's approval.
  • Temporary exhibitions halls are in all the three buildings.
  • Purified drinking water is available from water coolers located at key points throughout the Museum.
  • Toilets are available on each floor.
  • Signage for drinking water and toilets are provided at appropriate places.
  • The Museum has a full-fledged cafeteria run by Telangana Tourism Department in the main building and small coffee shop in the Western Block for the visitors.
  • A souvenir shop run by Handicrafts & Handlooms Exports Corporation of India Ltd. (HHEC), New Delhi on PPP mode is in the ground floor of the main building. The items through merchandise professionals are available for sale.
  • Wheelchairs are available for visitors with limited mobility, and access toilets are also provided.
  • Cloak Room Facility is available for the visitors for the safe custody of their belongings. On payment basis.

An officer is designated as the Public Grievance Officer to address complaints received from visitors or recorded in the complaint register/suggestion book placed at the museum entrance.

Similarly, suggestions recorded in the complaint /suggestions book are examined at appropriate level for implementation wherever it is necessary/feasible.
